Steve Jobs – Biography



Born in San Francisco in 1955, Jobs co-founded Apple in 1976, building it into one of the world's most valuable companies.


He was adopted as a child and grew up in California. He attended Reed College for a short period before dropping out to travel and experiment with psychedelics.


He returned to California in the early 1970s and began attending meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club. He co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak and helped create the Apple I and Apple II personal computers.


He left Apple in 1985 after a power struggle with the board of directors. He founded NeXT Computer and Pixar Animation Studios before returning to Apple in 1997.


He oversaw the development of the iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad, among other products, and helped turn Apple into a leading innovator in the technology industry.




Major Works



This would certainly include co-founding Apple, and helping create the Apple I and Apple II personal computers, which were instrumental in popularizing personal computing.


After leaving Apple, he founded NeXT Computer, which developed the NeXTSTEP operating system.


He also co-founded Pixar Animation Studios, which created some of the most successful animated films of all time, including "Toy Story," "Finding Nemo," and "The Incredibles."


After returning to Apple in 1997, Jobs oversaw the development of the iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad, among other products, which revolutionized the consumer electronics industry.





Awards and Accolades



1985 - awarded the National Medal of Technology by President Ronald Reagan for his contributions to the personal computing industry.


2007 - named the most powerful person in business by Fortune magazine.


Inducted into the California Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Bay Area Business Hall of Fame in 2008.


2011 - posthumously awarded a Grammy Trustees Award for his contributions to the music industry, specifically for his work with iTunes and the iPod.
